Global Sound –
This year Wild & Marr revealed the new JBL 6.5″ Vertec Line Array as well the JBL PRX600 1000w powered portable speaker range at the Grand West Arena in Cape Town. They illustrated the difference between the JBL VRX Constant curvature technology and the Vertec Line array technology. After experiencing the dynamics of the two systems we realised why a line array rig is so important especially at 65m+ away from the rig even when using the awesome JBL VRX system. Did you know that you can run 12 VT4886 line array elements off 2 Crown IT9000 HD amplifiers due to the fact that they are 12ohm each. We even had the privilege of hearing the new EON 515 compared to the PRX600 to help us understand which applications would suit them best. The entire mix was run directly into the Soundcraft Si1 digital mixing console which offers the patented fader glow technology to assist engineers in easy navigation. The music was provided by an unplugged set of the McCREE band which consists of Tristan & Mark aka Archie who were fantastic, these guys truely are amazing and with the support of Wild and Marr I’m sure they will actually reach the stars!! CT’s own super hero Francois, founder of Bands for Africa played us some variations of music so we could really put the speakers to the test, well done! Tnx to the Wild & Marr team for the effort!!
