I have a Yamaha MX12/4 stereo mixer. Every other channel (odds numbers) do not work. I was wondering if there is a likely culprit. I am not sure what happened, but someone said that the problem may be related to overloading the insert. It is possible that I tried to use the channel one insert as the input for an acoustic guitar with effects and sent too much power through that channel? Where would I look for a common component that would cause the other channels to fail?
There must be some. Check with some pro sound companies and see who does their gear.
Thank you, you are obviously a legend in your own right 😉
Top tips…
You can get soundcraft parts etc from audioguides-n-mods on eBay
I would say it is a problem with control settings but the fact that the bad channels are all 8 apart is fishy. Sorry I can’t offer any advise. i can’t think of a defect that would do that. Make sure it is not operator error. It usually is when I am the operator
I have Soundcraft Ghost 32/ problem with group 2 when I input channel 2/10/18/26

hi : )
i noticed on each channel at the top by the pre amp pots there are additional toggle/flip type switches , i wonder what they are for?
It IS a common problem, I’ve encountered this problem on an LX7 and on a Series2
thanks for the good info. I’m thinking about pickup up a used (of course) 8 chan. SR w/ a group output LED ladder that doesn’t function. I’m currently using a Spirit M12 as a front end – any comments on comparing the SR with the M12 as far as sound?

Hey mate, awesome watching you, love your work, love your work.
I use DEK contact cleaner, it is a deagreaser and a silicone lubricat. The one I used is safe for most plastic, very inportant so that cheap pot’s don’t brake on you. Seen this when I used brake cleaner for though job’s but it works.

I use Caig DeOxit; the little tiny full strength bottle if I can get to the contacts directly, the spray if I can’t. It seems to work fine; other cheaper stuff( maybe even spit) might work as well. I think most of the battle is to get something wet on there to wash off the crud.
Useful vid, I use a 24 track Delta at home, Just fixed a problem by just cleaning inside the affected area, but I`ll certainly bear your tips in mind if ( or rather when )I need to service it again
Good troubleshooting tips, especially removing three modules to get more length on your multipin connector.
