Society of St. Francis Xavier Missions to Host Benefit Concert for Tsunami & Homeless Victims Living in India – Global Sound

Global Sound – Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 22, 2008

Almost four years have passed since the Tsunami struck India’s south-eastern coast and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The devastation left behind is just as apparent today as it was in 2004, as thousands of lives were claimed and thousands were left homeless. In an effort to help the still suffering victims of this tragedy, The Society of St. Francis Xavier Missions will host a benefit concert featuring renowned, world music artist Remo and the Microwave Papadums, on Saturday, September 13th at the Copernicus Theater, 5216 W Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, IL. 60630. The concert starts at 7.00pm.

“The Society of St. Francis Xavier Missions is committed to sharing life and love to the less fortunate in India,” said Reverend Peter Fernandes, sfx., Benefit Concert Coordinator. “This concert will help raise funds that will go towards rehabilitating 500 children who are tsunami victims from India’s Andaman & Nicobar Islands, who are currently living in St. Francis Xavier Missions hostels.”

Reverend Fernandes also said that “St. Francis of Xavier Missions also serves the hurting people of Calcutta, transporting rice and dal in a van daily to feed the homeless and providing medical care to the poor and homeless at numbers reaching 500+ daily. There’s so much more that needs to be done to bring normalcy to the hurting people in the country. We want to join with the local and national community to help bring a since of normalcy back to their lives.”

Tickets for the benefit concert are: $ 35, $ 50, and $ 75 USD.
