Shure Mic Thanksgiving – Nathan Lippy Awesome – Global Sound

Global Sound –

This is a Mic test I did for SHURE microphones. I tested the durability of a 55, 57 and 58 with FOOD! The recipe for this thanksgiving dish is pretty awesome! Check it out at www.NathanLippy.com

This is a discussion about the Sennheiser e935 and the Shure SM58 microphones for karaoke use or home studio use. These two microphones have seen worldwide professional exposure in the entertainment world. People who take pride in their vocal abilities will be happy to have either one of these in their arsenal. Hey My friend, GREAT video you have here talking about the sure and the Senn. mics, I’ll tell U something damn true, Reguardless of what the others think, YOUR RIGHT!! the SM 58 is a leading mic used in tours all over the US and beyond, Its almost a standard in OUR touring world, I tour with singers from american Idol, and we use Audio Tech mics as drink coasters. Thats all there good 4. we use only Sennheizer and Sure, Including the 935. GREAT VIDEO, keep rocking.

  2. Exactly the comparison I was looking for! I will use it for playing mouth harmonica towards the mic which will be on a mic stand, thus giving me the accoustic sound and let me have my hands free. I am thinking the sennheiser 😉 Anyway, thanks for making this video!

  3. Just picked me up one today, I’ve been using a e835 for a year now and have been really happy with it. Your review helped me out, thanks dude almost bought a shure.

  4. I’m a professional vocalist and just bought the Sennheiser e935 today. I spent at least 20 minutes at Guitar Center trying different mics out in their audio room. I really loved the full sound and presence and clarity it gives. The audio pro there even commented on the difference in the way I expressed myself on it verses the other mics. I think it will be great on gigs. Next step up will be the Neumann KMS 105 – but thats $700 lol

  5. The 58 is still good workhorse mic. The newer Beta 58 I find better for vocals, at least mine. Personally I have become a fan of large diaphragm condenser condenors for vocals. Pretty hard to use those for karaoke though. But a damn good one is the Rode NT2-A featuring switchable polar patterns, and now comes with a shock mount, pop filter, and high quality cable all for under 400 bucks.

  6. Calm the fuck down asshat, I never said I was an authority or it was the best around I said it is “considered” one of the best all around mics available and is also “considered” an industry standard… My opinion has nothing to do with what is “considered” by and large by musicians the world over. And you should do your research too, it has been around for longer than the “80’s”. It has been produced since 1966! Look it up. That IS research!!!

  7. the shure sm58 is the biggest piece of crap on the market. check out Audio Technica or Heil sound. and the 58 came out in the 80’s. dude do your research before you claim to be an authority on this gear!

  8. ok hope you answer this asap why? the past saturday I filmed a party unfortunately my onbord camera’s mic could’t handle the loud speakers since it was an small place, I have another party for saturday an I need a better mic to handle the big noise of those big speakers I went to sam ask which is a music store and they recommended the e935 my question is would you recommend it for loud recording situation ? I also would like to buy a preamp box would it help to reduce the mic’s noise? pls help

  9. I tested the 58a and the e935 in-store at guitar center for about an hour. Both mics were very similar sounding, but the Sennheiser was noticeably hotter/louder, and with very little feedback – which is handy in a rock band. I’ve sung with Shure 58’s for a long time, and really like the brand – I use 57’s for my guitar amp – but when it came to deciding between the beta and the e935, I went with the latter. I’ve been VERY happy

  11. People shouldn’t slam mics down on the floor like that as that will damage the mike itself! They should take care of it!

  12. sennheiser: meant for mid-range voices. shure: lower voices. try it out in a store and see for yourself!!!

The SM57 was released in 1965 and the SM58 was released in 1966. Before that they were Shure Unidyne Mics. Nice review.

  14. I am really considering the e935, but how do you think it’ll do against Shure’s Beta 58a wich is a couple of bucks cheaper too. Nice vid man.

  15. Did you have different processing on the 2 mics, or does it really reject feedback that well vs the SM58?

  16. I prefer Sennheiser but don’t get me wrong, I love the Shure… I have used the other brands you mention but have a preference to the Sennheiser…

  17. Which mic do you think is better? The Shure or The Sennheiser? Also, have you ever used Samson & Neumann?
