Can you Hear Us Now?

John Katonah makes final adjustments to the Village of Waldens New Sound system. Audience members for years have struggled with hearing village board meetings and court proceedings held in the Bradley meeting room in the Village Square. Village Justice Ray Ozman secured a grant through the Office of the Court Administration for the new sound equipment. John Katonah designed and installed the new system at no charge to the village. The system includes state of the art Shure microphones. The equipment pictured here show the automatic microphone selectors and audio level controls. The equipment does not require an operator or technical staff to operate during meetings and does not require any maintenance. Audience members who address the board will also benefit with the addition of a high quality wireless microphone.

John Katonah owns a satellite communications company called Satellite Lynx that specializes in audio, video and data links for radio and TV stations throughout the United States. He also served on Town of Montgomery Board as Councilman and is a 37 year resident of the Town of Montgomery. Although, he does not reside in the Village he considers Walden his home.

In 2003 John Katonah rebuilt the Fire Department’s Fire Whistle controller which alerts the village of an fire emergency. The original controller was accidentally destroyed by workman when the Municipal building was renovated. The $ 2500 in equipment and installation cost was also donated by John Katonah.
