In Japan is NOT illegal to copy rental CDs. They are regarded as a means of distribution like television and radio, and just as one is allowed to record radio and television programs for later viewing, one is allowed to make copies of CD’s. Hence this retal shop gives away a black MD to those that rent an audio CD.
